3 Ways to Make Your Home Greener (and keep your bank balance healthy!)
Going greener at home is the first step we can all take in helping to combat climate change and live a more eco-friendly lifestyle.
Now you could knock down your home and rebuild it in order to create a completely sustainable, carbon-neutral home—or you could take the easier option of investing in these three technologies:
- Solar shingles. If you—or your homeowner's association—aren't fans of solar roof panels, consider the new solar shingles, which look just like regular roof tiles. Solar technology has come a long way—there's a larger variety of aesthetically-pleasing versions now available, and they add value to your home if you're considering selling in the future.
- Dual flush toilet. No need to change any of your plumbing, just install a dual-flush toilet to save 3-4 gallons per flush.
- Advanced power strips. Did you know that many of your electronic gadgets use power even when they're on standby? It's known as "Vampire Load." An advanced power strip could save you up to $200 a year on your electricity bill.
